Financial Analyst/Specialist M&A (m/f/d) - Offshore Wind

BayWa r.e. has been implementing an Offshore Wind strategy for the last four years that follows its greenfield development business model and builds on its existing international presence in markets such as Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. About the role
We are looking for a Financial Analyst/Specialist M&A (m/f/d) - Offshore Wind within our global Offshore Wind Transactions Team. This key role is responsible for developing, improving, maintaining our core and project specific financial model, while supporting the team in the commercial and business transaction processes. We are looking for this role to support the Offshore Wind Transactions Team in all facets of transaction acquisition stages, from providing in depth market research, modelling economic and financial assumptions on projects, benchmarking market data against internal references, preparation of investment memoranda which need to be approved by the management, preparing competitive bid applications. This role will also entail working on the M&A transactions where detailed oriented economic and financial analysis will need to be performed in order to sound the attractiveness of asset as well as sales. This position will be located in our company's head office in Munich.
What You Will Do
- You will use best practice financial modelling and analysis tool to evaluate acquisition/greenfield or tender opportunities for offshore wind projects in development phase, in terms of costs and value
- You will be responsible for the financial inputs, outputs, sensitivities, key project indicators and overall modelling and structuring project opportunities to support investment decision making
- You will set up and manage an internal database of project benchmarks to assist with market research, cross-checking and evaluating opportunities
- You will support the local development team with projects that require operational budgeting and forecasting to ensure projects are technically and financially optimized
- You will assist with documenting project business cases and supporting analysis that feeds into acquisition opportunities and internal investment decision documents
- You will support work on transactional documents such as corporate partnership agreements during various phases of transaction process
- You will support in the determination of KPIs to support in the design and build up of economic and optimized wind valuation models
- You will work to support route-to-market opportunities for projects and coordinating with internal and development teams
- You are responsible for enhancing best practice methods, valuation processes, knowledge management, internal tools and templates
- You will collaborate with Project Finance, PPA, Legal and Corporate Finance teams as well as Financial Controlling while working on live opportunities
Your Profile
- University degree in numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Science or similar
- Relevant work experience in the range of two to four years in finance, banking, funds or relatable industry
- Experience in offshore wind or in the renewable energy field is a plus
- Experience in business modelling and valuation techniques, ideally with exposure to project finance
- Creative and pragmatic workstyle with an ability to find solutions to challenging problems
- Quick and responsive thinker who is not shy to take tasks and run with them
- Ability to act independently and take on challenges willingly while also being a supportive team player
- Advanced usage of the MS Suite, good knowledge of PowerBI, Workfront and any other coding language (Python)
- Full command of English, knowledge of German is a plus, and any other languages are welcomed on board
