We are seeking an exceptional leader to spearhead our Agriculture Reinsurance team in Beijing, where you will drive business growth, developing robust underwriting strategies, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including cedents, brokers, and industry partners, drawing on your expertise in agricultural risk assessment, reinsurance structures, and market dynamics, particularly in the Chinese reinsurance market.
To thrive in this role, you will possess a strong background in agriculture reinsurance, with in-depth knowledge of agricultural risk assessment and reinsurance structures. You will leverage your expertise in data and analytics to drive the business decision, paired with your exceptional relationship management and leadership skills, will be essential in driving business growth and expansion.
The position is based in Beijing and reports to the Head of P&C Greater China, with a matrix reporting line to the Regional Head of Agriculture, Asia Pacific Africa.
YOUR ROLE

• Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management Develop and execute a comprehensive agriculture reinsurance strategy, aligning with our company's overall risk appetite and growth objectives.
• Implement robust underwriting guidelines, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
• Oversee the underwriting, pricing, and structuring of agriculture treaties and facultative reinsurance programs.
• Optimize portfolio performance through data-driven decision-making and proper risk-reward relationship, focusing on profitability and sustainability.

• Business Development & Market Engagement Strengthen relationships with insurance companies, brokers, and other market participants to drive growth.
• Identify new opportunities in emerging markets and develop innovative reinsurance solutions for agricultural risks.
• Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and client meetings to position us as a thought leader in agriculture reinsurance.

• Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor a team of underwriters and analysts, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the team's understanding of agriculture reinsurance trends.
• Collaborate with client managers and other internal stakeholders to achieved aligned business target for the company

YOUR PROFILE

• Experience & Qualifications 10+ years of experience in agriculture reinsurance, underwriting, or related roles, with a proven track record of managing and growing an agriculture reinsurance portfolio.
• Strong understanding of agricultural risk modelling, weather derivatives, and climate risk impact.
• Experience in structuring and negotiating treaty and facultative reinsurance contracts.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Experience in leveraging satellite imagery and parametric insurance models to enhance risk assessment and pricing accuracy is desirable.

• Skills & Competencies Fluency in Mandarin, English and strong knowledge of the China insurance and reinsurance landscape and regulatory framework.
• Strong analytical, technical, and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven leadership and management abilities, with a strong track record of developing and guiding high-performing teams
