We are looking for an junior underwriter to support us in shaping our business development activities.
Our agriculture team is responsible for business written in Europe and Latin America, and our mandate for the underwriting of agriculture reinsurance covers the overall European and Latin American division, including business in EU/LA1 to EU/LA3. Our scope includes the reinsurance of existing agribusiness as well as helping our clients grow their business and manage their challenges in a changing environment. Agriculture is directly affected by the prevailing global trends such as climate change and digitalisation, opening a wide range of new opportunities. We made it our mission to explore new ways of combining insurance products with data-driven, high-tech solutions. Our ambition is to steadily grow by developing insurance solutions together with our clients for the farming sector throughout Europe and Latin America.

YOUR JOB

• Proactively contributing within the client teams supporting negotiations with cedents and brokers, identifying and developing new business potential as well as new clients
• Performing risk assessment, pricing and acceptance of reinsurance programmes, including definition of reinsurance conditions
• Handling the full process of underwriting and monitoring the existing proportional and non-proportional treaty business within your defined responsibilities
• Discussing pricing results with Client Management and clients with the aim of creating valuable insights and common understanding for both sides
• Developing, implementing and executing client and market strategies with the team

YOUR PROFILE

• University degree in agricultural sciences or agricultural economics with a strong quantitative background
• Strong analytical skills combined with high level of commitment, responsibility and reliability is a prerequisite
• You have initial experience in agricultural (treaty) reinsurance underwriting
• You have initial primary agricultural insurance know-how
• You have a good understanding of the agronomical and economical side of agricultural production and the agricultural value chain
• You have experience abroad ideally working in the farming sector
• You are prepared to represent MR at conferences and events with your excellent presentation skills
• Your performance is based on strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills
• You are eager to drive your own and the team’s development, learn new things, and you are active in sharing knowledge with your colleagues
• You have a high degree of client orientation
• You are team player with an open mindset and the preparedness to work in a dynamic environment
• Excellent command of English and Spanish, knowledge in German and or Italian would be appreciated
