Full- or part-time | temporary contract (36 month) | Institut für Klinische Chemie und Pathobiochemie
We are seeking a motivated PhD student to join the newly established Systems Immune Oncology lab led by Prof. Julia Frede at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Our research focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying immune responses in cancer, with a particular emphasis on tumor-immune interactions and therapy resistance.
Our lab is embedded in the vibrant research environment of TranslaTUM, offering access to state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary network, including collaborations with the TranslaTUM, the Department of Clinical Chemistry, and the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). We aim to explore novel therapeutic approaches by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and immune profiling.”
Your responsibilities:
- Investigate immune cell dynamics in cancer, using a range of biochemical, immunological, and in vitro/in vivo techniques
- Contribute to projects aimed at unraveling the complex interactions between the immune system and cancer cells, with a focus on therapy resistance and immune modulation
- Work at the interface of experimental and computational biology to analyze multi-modal datasets (e.g., single-cell RNA-seq, spatial omics)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to presentations, publications, and scientific discussions
Your profile
- You are a highly motivated scientist and committed to scientific excellence
- You hold a MSc or equivalent degree with a solid background in immunology and molecular/cell biology
- Experience with molecular biology and immunological techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, PCR, cell culture) is a plus
We offer you:
- A 3-year contract with the possibility of extension
- EGYM well pass, corporate benefits and discounts (e.g. Käfer), cafeteria, sports and cultural offers, company bike
- Free use of the library through a branch of the Munich City Library located in the building
- Working in the heart of Munich at Max-Weber-Platz with very good accessibility by public transport such as the subway, S-Bahn or tram
